What Happened This Weekend?

May 1, 2022

There are rivalries and then there are RIVALRIES. University of Georgia vs Florida, Alabama vs Auburn, Ohio State vs Michigan are a few that come to mind. There is even a more fierce rivalry within Warshauer Woodward Atkins. That is the one between Michael Warshauer and Steven Herron. They met each other at a Tri The Parks triathlon at John Tanner Park back in April 2019. Michael wanted to meet the guy who beat him for a podium finish. Steven placed second and Michael placed fourth, just a few seconds behind third which would have given him a spot on the podium. The two became fast friends and trained together as Michael was preparing to compete in the Ironman Florida Triathlon in November of that year.

Fast forward to 2022. Steven is now the Business Manager/Marketing Manager for Warshauer Woodward Atkins. Michael and Steven now spend a lot of time together in the office as well as training together. While both enjoy the camaraderie, there is an underlying rivalry since they compete in the same age group.

This past weekend, the two competed in the Peachtree City International Triathlon which consists of a .93 mile swim, 16 mile bike, and a 6.2 mile run. Neither one was as prepared as they should have been for the race so it was more for fun and training than a realistic shot a getting on the podium. Still, the rivalry was evident.

Who won? Check back later in the week when the results are posted.

(For the record, Steven is 2-0 against Michael in triathlons they’ve done together.)
